Today, on May 11th 2025, Super Tux turns 21 years old!
For those who don't know, it's a free and open source platformer game starring Tux the Linux mascot that's similar to classic Super Mario games. It's officially supported on Linux, Android, macOS, Windows and on the web with WebAssembly. There's even unofficial/homebrew ports out there.
There's so much to experience in this game. It has the main story mode and contributor levels made by fans over the years. There's also a level editor, which means you can make your own levels and share them or play other people's levels as add-ons online.
The best part is the game is still being updated and mantained with new levels to this day. It's a fun game and I definitely recommend installing it.
It is certainly inspiring to see how this game is still getting love after so long, and it's all free and open source.
